This speach was given by Mr. Peres a few weeks ago in Davos, in the World Economic forum. I think it is a very good and true speach, it's worth spending 10 minutes on.

Winter pix
Meant to upload these pictures forever. Better late than never. (Naturally phone pictures.)
Víztükör által homályosan.
Watching my own reflection.

Meg is nézné magát benne.
Mirror tree.

A kezem majd' lefagyott!
My hand almost froze!

Body Building Champion.

Ez akár Norvégiában is készülhetett volna, nem? Pedig Bakonybél.
This pic could've been made in Norway, no? Hungary can be just as beautiful.

A denevéres barlangból előbújt a művészi érzékem.
The cave of the bats made me quite artistic.

Yes we can
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.
Three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea:
Yes. We. Can.

Hegedűs a hetedikben / Fiddler in the seventh
Tegnap reggel megyek a Kertész utcában.
-----------------------
I promised so here it comes. Maybe it will help reduce the general depression in this dark, cold, wet weather. Because surely there is something to like at every place. Even here in the 7th district of Budapest. It’s stinky, dirty, full of dog crap. True. But still.
My Grandmother had an old painting on the wall. A gipsy boy, with a fiddle under his arm, some hill in the background, maybe even a village. As a kid I used to gaze at this picture a lot, imagined all kinds of stories to it, I liked the mood of it.
Yesterday morning I was walking down the street. There’s a fiddle maker workshop not far from my house. As I get closer, I see standing there a balding gipsy man in his fifties, wearing a long coat, with a fiddle under his arm.
- Not open today, this one? – he asks.
But I don’t know either. I just keep on walking, and smile, because I know he’s that skinny boy from that old picture, just a few years went by since then.

Erről nem írok / No word about this
---------------------------------
Last time i left a post in kind of half, saying I’d come back to it.
I wanted to write about how twisted the world is, where a country that is constantly abused by terror attacks may not protect its citizens because others might get upset (how dare Israelis don’t want to blow up on public buses, or else go into the sea as they did in the good ol’ days, or at least leave everything they had build up with their bare hands on a land that was barren and deserted for hundreds of years?!). Where the TV says that since beginning of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict there was not a single person from the international media present in the area, simply because the local forces don’t let them in (this means no CNN, no BBC, no Reuters, nobody!!!), but despite this fact they are all so very well informed and they feel a constant need to shower the entire universe with false, forged news and videos.
I am not going to write about this today, because this afternoon I went to a pro-Israel rally and that should be enough for one day.
Neither am I going to go into the question why the image of Tolstoy, Tchaikovsky and Kasparov must be stained by alcoholism, corruption and shutting off the gas supplies of Europe.
Instead, in the next post I am going to tell you why I like the 7th district of Budapest.

Épp ideje! / About time!
A fránya politika, az. Az a buta háború. Meg az agymosás. Meg a hazug propaganda is. Mind-mind olyan dolgok, amikről sose akartam írni.
De hát ez van. Ettől még persze nem kell szeretni. Mindenesetre mélységesen felháborít a média hamissága.

I started this post last week saying that i don’t really feel like talking too much about politics, outrageous brainwashing, war, and things like this. But in fact they do upset me.
So I think it’s about time for Israel to say “Enough!” to the nonstop attacks of Arabs, under the agreement of almost the entire universe.
I had to go then and I said I’d continue. But there’s nothing new to say.

Happy Hanuka!

Another year has gone by. This is the time i notice it the most. I thought I’d make my own Hanukkia picture this year but it didn’t really work out, so I am going to upload these nice lights in this big darkness.

Támadás a hét vezér ellen
--------------
I still do not intend to go into anything political, but there is an article I like. It is nicely written, unfortunately in Hungarian. But it is talking about how nonsense it is for the neo-Nazis to organize a rally against Chanuka (no, I am not kidding!!!) because they think this is just another sign of how the Jews try to take over Hungary (the whole world really, but Hungary, being no doubt the most important place in this Universe of ours is the first step).

Sansula
Megvettem. Naná. Hanukára.
Sansula is not a woman’s name. It could be some far-away place too, but it is not. And it is not even the name of the girls’ school of the San Ursula monastery.
Sansula is a musical instrument. A very amazing one too. It is the modern version of the ancient African instrument, the Kalimba. Try to imagine a wooden frame with leather (or in our case a synthetic material) stretched out on it, on top standing a wooden block, holding little iron tongues. These tongues are being plunked originally with the thumbs, but the other fingers can be used as well. I know it’s hard to imagine but the video above shows exactly what it is like.
The sound coming out of it is truly wondrous. It is tuned to an ‘a minor’ scale so one can not really go wrong. You just relax and let your fantasy reach high and fly. On the wings of beautiful music, I could write, if it wasn’t incredibly cheesy.
Oh yeah. I bought one. Of course. As a Hanukah present.

„In order to avoid misunderstandings please do not enter the bathroom with books, dvd-s and cd-s that are not yet paid for.”
This sign hangs on the door of a men’s room in one of the big bookstores in Budapest. Before anyone would ask, I use the ladies’ room, but they happen to be right next to each other, and I couldn’t help but wonder why only men need to be told this…

PG
Hihetetlen.
Last night was oh so good! And quite challenging too. It started beautifully snowing in Budapest, which made public transportation slow down a bit. Quite a bit. There were no problems with the tram, but the buses and the cars were lining up after some idiot who could not afford to get winter tires for his shiny-expensive roadster. Nobody could pass on the snowy-icy road, plus there were cars coming from the other direction too. Finally we got off the bus, thinking it would be faster to walk. That’s when the line started going. But ok. We had a nice walk in the snow. Finally we got there, to that very far away community center, where the rehearsal of the concert of Gabor Presser took place. He’s truly one of the my childhood / teenage heroes. I basically grow up on him. And now there he was, sitting, playing, singing, being just as good as ever, his words as true and his music as perfect as can be.
Unbelievable.
