Ma reggel üvöltöttem a munkahelyemen.


Nem, nem a szokásos dolgok, hogy ugye a korán kelés, meg hogy semmi nem működik, meg a sok probléma meg a stressz és hasonlók.

Ma reggel ugyanis niggerezés esete forgott fenn. A niggerezés annyit jelent, hogy 2012-ben, Európában, egy multinacionális cég második emeletén értelmes „fehér” emberek niggernek neveznek másokat. Számomra ez abszolút mértékben és teljesen elfogadhatatlan, bármiféle kompromisszum nélkül.

Igaziból nem is csak maga a szóhasználat húzott fel, hanem az, hogy nem értették, hogy ezzel most akkor mi a probléma. Először higgadtan megkértem, hogy ezt a szót ne használja. Használta. Elmagyaráztam, hogy ez miért nem helyes. Nem értette. Épp ellenkezőleg! Többen hosszasan magyarázták nekem, hogy ez miért oké, hogyaszongya a niggerek is niggernek hívják egymást, ezért ez teljesen korrekt. Hát szerintem meg nem korrekt. Úgy gondolom, hogy nem jókedvükben hívják így egymást. És azt is gondolom, hogy ez a „belső” szóhasználat pont azért alakult ki, mert egy nagyon is pejoratív, bántó és sértő szóhasználatból alakítottak ki egy olyan belső zsargont, ami azt üzeni, hogy „Tudod mit? Büszkék vagyunk nigger mivoltunkra!” Az, hogy ők hogy hívják egymást, az az ő dolguk. Az pedig, hogy mi hogy beszélünk róluk, hogyan viszonyulunk hozzájuk, az pedig a mi dolgunk. Nekem pedig szívem joga, hogy ne tűrjem a niggerezést, mint ahogy nem tűröm a cigózást, biboldózást, buzizást sem.

És abban a szerencsés helyzetben vagyok, hogy egy olyan cégnél dolgozom, amelynek nagyon szigorú szabályai vannak az ilyen esetekre. És ez volt a végső ütőkártyám. Ha még egyszer meghallom ezt a szót egy nem-niggertől, azonnal jelentem a cégvezetésnek. Aztán magyarázzák nekik, hogy ez valójában korrekt.

I yelled at work this morning.

No, not just the usual stuff, like getting up early or that nothing works, the numerous problems, the daily stress and such.

This morning i experienced niggering. Niggering means that in Europe 2012 on the second floor of a multinational company educated „white” people refer to others as nigger. Well, to me this is absolutely and completely unacceptable, without any compromise.

What made me really angry was not only the usage of the word, but rather the fact that these people did not at all understand what my problem was. First i calmly asked them not the use this word. They kept using it. Than i explained, why i thought this was not correct. They didn’t get it. Just the opposite. They explained to me why it was ok. That niggers call each other nigger too, so it’s okay. Well, i still don’t think it’s okay. I don’t think they call each other by this name because it makes them happy. I think they use this pejorative and racist word within themselves to send out the message to the world: „You know what? We are proud to be niggers!” If they use this word among themselves, it’s their business. And the way we talk about them, the way we refer to them is our business. And i have the right not to accept this kind of talk at work, the same way i do not accept this kind of talk when it refers to Jews, Gypsies or gay people.

I am very lucky to work for a company that has a very strickt diversity policy, exactly for incidents like this. And the next time i hear anything like this i will report it to the representative of the diversity team.

Let them decide wheather it is okay or not.
