Kellemes Ünnepet!

I like this picture. Not only because it's unusual. Rather because of the writing on it. "Da lifnei mi ata omed", which means "Know before whom you stand". The quote is from the Talmudic tractate called Pirkei Avos, or the Teachings of the wise sages, which anyway has a special place in my heart. But I've never seen this saying having to do with Hanukah. Though if we just think about it, it's really the point of the Holiday. To know before whom we stand. Before the Greeks of before G-d. Before the outside world or before our inner norms. Before others or before ourselves. It doesn't hurt to think about this sometimes.
Happy Holiday!
