Épp ideje! / About time!
A fránya politika, az. Az a buta háború. Meg az agymosás. Meg a hazug propaganda is. Mind-mind olyan dolgok, amikről sose akartam írni.
De hát ez van. Ettől még persze nem kell szeretni. Mindenesetre mélységesen felháborít a média hamissága.
--------------------
I started this post last week saying that i don’t really feel like talking too much about politics, outrageous brainwashing, war, and things like this. But in fact they do upset me.
So I think it’s about time for Israel to say “Enough!” to the nonstop attacks of Arabs, under the agreement of almost the entire universe.
I had to go then and I said I’d continue. But there’s nothing new to say.

Happy Hanuka!

Another year has gone by. This is the time i notice it the most. I thought I’d make my own Hanukkia picture this year but it didn’t really work out, so I am going to upload these nice lights in this big darkness.

Támadás a hét vezér ellen
--------------
I still do not intend to go into anything political, but there is an article I like. It is nicely written, unfortunately in Hungarian. But it is talking about how nonsense it is for the neo-Nazis to organize a rally against Chanuka (no, I am not kidding!!!) because they think this is just another sign of how the Jews try to take over Hungary (the whole world really, but Hungary, being no doubt the most important place in this Universe of ours is the first step).

Sansula
Megvettem. Naná. Hanukára.
Sansula is not a woman’s name. It could be some far-away place too, but it is not. And it is not even the name of the girls’ school of the San Ursula monastery.
Sansula is a musical instrument. A very amazing one too. It is the modern version of the ancient African instrument, the Kalimba. Try to imagine a wooden frame with leather (or in our case a synthetic material) stretched out on it, on top standing a wooden block, holding little iron tongues. These tongues are being plunked originally with the thumbs, but the other fingers can be used as well. I know it’s hard to imagine but the video above shows exactly what it is like.
The sound coming out of it is truly wondrous. It is tuned to an ‘a minor’ scale so one can not really go wrong. You just relax and let your fantasy reach high and fly. On the wings of beautiful music, I could write, if it wasn’t incredibly cheesy.
Oh yeah. I bought one. Of course. As a Hanukah present.

„In order to avoid misunderstandings please do not enter the bathroom with books, dvd-s and cd-s that are not yet paid for.”
This sign hangs on the door of a men’s room in one of the big bookstores in Budapest. Before anyone would ask, I use the ladies’ room, but they happen to be right next to each other, and I couldn’t help but wonder why only men need to be told this…

PG
Hihetetlen.
Last night was oh so good! And quite challenging too. It started beautifully snowing in Budapest, which made public transportation slow down a bit. Quite a bit. There were no problems with the tram, but the buses and the cars were lining up after some idiot who could not afford to get winter tires for his shiny-expensive roadster. Nobody could pass on the snowy-icy road, plus there were cars coming from the other direction too. Finally we got off the bus, thinking it would be faster to walk. That’s when the line started going. But ok. We had a nice walk in the snow. Finally we got there, to that very far away community center, where the rehearsal of the concert of Gabor Presser took place. He’s truly one of the my childhood / teenage heroes. I basically grow up on him. And now there he was, sitting, playing, singing, being just as good as ever, his words as true and his music as perfect as can be.
Unbelievable.

Orrplasztika / Nose job
A legjobbkor, a legjobb helyen.
A röntgenen tisztán látszott a törés. Ne fújjam, jegeljem, mondta a doktor bácsi. De én fújom, s nem jegelem. Ne sportoljak 8 napig, mondta a fül-orr-gégész néni. Hát jó. Ennyit ez nekem megér.

I don’t think anyone was ever as happy about a broken nose as I am now. No, I kid you not.
But what happened, you may ask now. Nothing special. I just thought that I could find the way from the toilet to the bathroom in the dark, and who needs light for washing their hands anyway? But there was something unexpected on the way. It was brown and about 100 x 215 cm big. I do not remember that door ever being closed during the past 22 years. Well, now it was. I only noticed this fact when my nose landed hard on the wooden surface with a loud crack.
- I think I just broke my nose – I said to my friend Barb, who was busy surfing the net. Suddenly she didn’t really know what to do with this announcement of mine, so she ran after me into the bathroom. There the blood dashing out of my nose convinced her that this time it is not only my weird sense of humor. We should ice it, she said, when she was over the first shock. No way, I declared! It might subside and that’s exactly what I don’t want! I’ve been dreaming of a nose like this for so many years! I even thought of having a nose job; others suggested martial arts as a potential cost-effective solution. But lo and behold time always does its own! After the bleeding stopped I was very happy to find that an amazing miracle happened totally free of charge. Just at the right time and place. I mean that cool bump occurred right there, on the bridge of my nose, just where I wanted it. Now I don’t have to walk around with a star of David on my necklace anymore. My nose shows where I belong.
The x-ray showed the break clearly. Don’t blow, said the doc. I do. Ice it, he said. I don’t. Don’t do sports for 8 days, said the otolaryngologist. Ok. That’s alright. It’s worth it for me.

Hitler a rendelőben / Hitler at the doc's
- Sieg Heil!
Válaszul a tömeg:
- Heil!
Majd ismét:
- Sieg Heil!
- Heil!
Hiszen ahogy a Laár pour Laár társulattól tanultuk: Mindenki a saját szerencséjének a pogácsa!
--------------------------
This is going to be an interesting day. It’s hardly 9 o’clock yet and already so much has happened. Got up early, as I was supposed to baby-sit a kid I know, but at the end it worked out differently. In my free time I made interesting discoveries at the doctor’s office. Not that I’m sick or anything, neither is it a habit of mine to spend my free time at the doc’s office. But as I was walking on the street on this unusually early morning hour (at least for me) I ran into a friend of mine who was on her way to the doctor to get some pills for her husband; and since we thought it would only take a few minutes I decided to keep her company.
At the doctors office you have to ring the bell on the outside, and the assistant lets you in. So we pushed the button, and as we were waiting for the door to open, an old man arrived and asked:
“Did you ring yet?” And with that he started yanking the door. This behavior seemed pretty weird to me, but ok, I thought to myself, he was probably taught that the elevator comes faster if you push the button a million times. And indeed, by then the door opened with a buzz, but I suspect that this was due to the assistant’s golden hands rather than the yanking. The old man, despite of him being well on in years ran forward quickly and took our place in line. ‘Sokay, we thought, at least we have an opportunity to catch up a bit.
While we did so, sitting peacefully on the bench, something very strange happened. From a cellular phone, than was till then resting quietly in the pocket of a man in the waiting room of another doctor’s office, Hitler started yelling at the top of his lungs:
“Sieg Heil!”
And the crowd answered:
“Heil!”
And again:
“Sieg Heil!”
„Heil!“
And it went on till the guy answered the phone. First I thought I didn’t hear right. Or that it’s only my third generation Holocaust paranoia. But no. Judith heard it too. She jumped up immediately to see who this beast is and to tell him what she had to say to him. I was just sitting there helplessly, not knowing at all what to do. But let’s not make a deal, I pull her back. We were still curious. But nothing special. A normal looking man in his fifties with greasy hair, wearing a leather jacket. So we sit back down to discuss what’s the best thing to do in situations like this; pondering whether this is against the low or it’s simply outrageous besides being hurtful, humiliating and upsetting at the same time. I tend to just sit quietly, being busy being hurt. But Judith is not like that. She’s brave. She has children. Jewish children. So she stands up again and says to the guy:
“Tell me, sir, are you not embarrassed to have a ringtone like this? It is very hurtful, you know.”
The guys doesn’t attack. He says it’s not his fault, his friend uploaded the tone for him but he will change it.
Yeah, sure, not his fault. There are so many things in this world that do not depend on us but they still happen somehow. It would be great to be more in charge of our own lives sometimes.

Kese habbal
Ülök a villamoson, meglepően reggeli órán. Olvasom a könyvemet. A srác nyugodtan lehúzza a dzseki cipzárját. Alatta konszoli ing. Nagy a keze. Most borotválkozott.
Ennek a történetnek nincs csattanója. Csak ezért írtam le, mert megfogott.

Őszi bogyó / Autumn berries
Telefonnal nem is rossz... Tegnap, a Pilisben. Aki még nem volt ott, azonnal induljon. Úgyis itt a Szükesz. Elő a sátrakat! Eljött a kivonulás ideje. Ki a házainkból, ki a megszokásból, a rossz gondolatokból. Itt az idő, hogy örvendjünk. Hogy önmagunk legyünk.
Not bad with a phone... Yesterday, in the Pilis mountains. Anyone who hasn't been there yet should get going now. Anyway it's Succos. Time to get out. Out of our houses, out of the daily routine, out of those bad habits, out of those bad thoughts. Time to rejoyce. To be ourselves.
Reggeli csoda.
Morning wonder.
"... hallgatva jár, mint erdős partok
közt délidőn jár a nyári víz s
csillogó gondot ringat magában arról,
hogy sohasem telünk el a csókkal és
szomorú. Pirul a naptól már az őszi bogyó." (Radnóti Miklós)
If anyone knows what these red berries are called pls contact me. Thanx.
Pálos kolostor romja a Pilisben. 1703-ban "Hutás" András, az üveges remete lakott itt.
The ruins of a monastery in the mountains. In 1703 a hermit called Andrew made glass here.
Gomba Mama, Gomba Papa, és a gombabák.
Mushroom Mom, Mushroom Dad, and the Mushroom babies.

Photo-blog
Now i'm gonna share some photos of what i've been up to during the past few weeks when i kinda neglected my blog. All pictures were made with my phone.
First came the Roman troops... this was at the so called Savaria Carneval in Szombathely. I saw this for the first time this year and it was really nice.
Ezután, kihasználva az egyik utolsó napos hétvégét az idén, megmártóztam a nagy folyóban Dunakeszinél.
Then i thought i would take advantage of one of the last sunny weekends this year, so i went to Dunakeszi where i swam in the Danube. And even my skin is still fine.
The next project was riding this really cool recumbent bike. The bike was hand made by one of my distant uncles. I volunteered to be the test person.

Critical Mass.
I can not only ride bikes, i can lift them up as well; thanks to my friend Tomi, who taugth me how to do it. Critical Mass, Budapest.
One bright day we went to fly kite, but there was no wind. But guess what. We saw this really cute sheep that was born on that very day!
Ettől roppant mód kedvet kaptam egy kis pingáláshoz. Iziben ki is festettem a konyhám egyik falát narancssárgára. Jó lesz az a télen, amikor úgyis minden olyan szürke.
I decided to paint one of my kitchen walls orange. Ain't it beautiful? It will do me good on those gray winter days.

Because in the meantime it started raining in this wonderful city, Budapest.

Ahol hálót fon a virágra a pók.
Where spiders make webs around flowers.

És ahol konnektorok nőnek az utcán.
And there are sockets on the street.

Az emberek pedig bambulnak a metrón.
And the people feel so down when they are in the subway.
